Another busy month at the Limelight Theatre with the production of “Romeo & Juliet”, the auditions for “The Envelope Please” and the reading committee coming together with their recommendations for our productions in 2019 (you will see the results in this
newsletter).
We received submission of four musicals and four plays to fill the proposed five seasons for 2019. However, due to other commitments, the dates set for the seasons didn’t suit everyone, so we are still to confirm the first production for
the year in March. Hopefully we will be able to announce that in our next newsletter.
“Romeo & Juliet” began on 27th September to a most appreciative audience, and all of the comments and reviews have been very positive. It is an unusual treatment of Shakespeare’s work, setting it in contemporary times, but it is true
to the language of the author and presented in a very interesting and engaging style. There are still vacant seats to be had in the final week, so don’t miss out!
I attended the first rehearsal of “The Envelope Please” on Sunday and was delighted with the enthusiasm and beautiful vocals issuing forth from the music room at Wanneroo Secondary College. We are lucky enough to be able to use the school for rehearsals on a regular basis and we welcome the school to use our theatre from time to time. “The Envelope” has about 25 fabulous songs – well,
they must be fabulous if they won academy awards! And with musical sisters Gill Binks and Jane Anderson at the helm, it can’t fail to entertain!
I would again like to thank ALL of the volunteers who keep our theatre running. Be assured that no deed goes unnoticed and that you are appreciated in all that you do.
