The Rocky Horror Picture Show is coming to the big screen at the Limelight Theatre for a movie night with a difference.

Join us at the theatre for a showing of the 70’s cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, written by Richard O’Brien, directed by Jim Sharman and starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick.

For those that are possibly too young to remember – the story centres on a young engaged couple who break down in the rain near a spooky castle. When they enter the castle to call for help they enter the world of mad scientist/alien transvestite Dr Frank N Furter.

The musical comedy horror film is a parody tribute to the science fiction and horror B grade movies of the 60’s and is the longest running theatrical release in film history.

So come and join us as we do the Time Warp on October 16th. Doors and the Limelight bar open at 7pm and the movie screens at 8pm. Tickets are just $8 (all ticket types, no concessions available) and can be booked HERE.

Pantomime is a theatrical entertainment, mainly for children, that involves music, topical jokes, slapstick comedy, cross-dressing and is based on a fairy tale or nursery story, usually produced around Christmas.

Characters often break the “fourth wall” through interaction with the audience and audience participation. They tend to be stereotypes and none of them take themselves seriously!

SYNOPSIS OF Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack Trot and his mother, Dame Trot live in a village called Merrydale. Jack is in love with King Bertram’s daughter, the lovely Princess Demelza. The village is being terrorised by the Giant who lives Up-In-The Clouds. He demands increased taxes and the hand of the Princess in marriage. In order to pay the Giant, Dame Trot and Jack are forced to sell their cow Daisy. However, Jack is tricked by Slimeball, the Giant’s henchman, who pays him in beans instead of cash; and who abducts the Princess and takes her to the Giant. Jack throws the beans away in disgust, but magically they grow into a huge beanstalk allowing him to climb up into the clouds to rescue the Princess. Will it end happily ever after?

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Speaking/ singing roles – please download the relevant audition pieces and prepare a song of your choice. (Non-singing roles require script only)

All other roles should prepare a one-minute song to demonstrate singing ability
