Hello Members and friends

I was fortunate to attend the final night of “Kinky Boots” and discovered that all the raves I had been hearing from patrons and friends were absolutely true! What a magnificent production!
A real credit to the directors, the set builders, the backstage and technical crews and the fabulous performers and musicians!
I was entranced from beginning to end and really didn’t want it to stop – the curtain calls and standing ovations were a testament to the fact that the whole audience were of the same opinion! The sell-out of the whole run meant that well over 2000 people came to the theatre to enjoy this show. Hopefully you will all come back for “Rock of Ages” in November/December. BOOK NOW, AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!
We are still working on a solution for access to the lighting bar above the auditorium and amassing updated information and quotes. The problem stems from the need to ensure the safety of our members who may be working at heights. At our last committee meeting, after much discussion and research, it was decided that the gantry option was not the best fit as there would still be a need for members to climb ladders to access the lighting bar. As we are hoping to install a system immediately after our first season next year, we ae keen to make this important decision sooner rather than later.
You will see on another page in this newsletter, we will be starting 2020 with a production of “Annie” to be directed by Kate Blower.
We have produced this musical before – but as it was 17 years ago, the children who starred in it are adults now and won’t be re-cast!
However, our final production for 2019 is open for bookings, so if you missed out on “Kinky Boots”, please book soon for “Rock of Ages” – it promises to be a great fun show. (I know the cast are already enjoying it!)
A quick personal note – I have nominated to be a councillor for the City of Wanneroo in the coming election! This will not take me away from my duties as your president, indeed I hope it will help to raise the profile of our theatre even more. The only promise I can make if I am elected is that I will listen to the residents and I will try to represent your views and ideas honestly.

See you at the theatre –

Shelley
