President’s Spot – March

First of all I’d like to confirm and remind you of some important dates for your diary in March and April.
Thursday 14th March – at 8pm Opening Night for “The Real Housewives of Perth” This is a very short season so book your tickets now to avoid disappointment for this fun filled frolic! (Play dates are 14th, 15th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and a matinee on the 24th)
Saturday 23rd March – from 6.30 to 8.30pm our Awards presentation sundowner – everyone welcome. Nibbles and your first drink provided. Please ring or text our booking line (0499 954 016). Or send an email to Carol on – [email protected] to help us calculate the catering.
Wednesday 10th April – from 7pm our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING where you can have your say about the running of our theatre. You can also pay your membership subscription on the night by cash or card.  Volunteers are the life-blood of our organisation; we couldn’t exist without  them. And I again would like to thank those wonderful people who are always there to help. We’ve had a few new recruits to the Tuesday Task Force, our tireless maintenance crew, and we now have seven wardrobe ladies! Whether you do the odd night on front of house, work back stage, strut your stuff on the stage, type the minutes or change the light bulbs, you are a valued member – a valued volunteer. I don’t see everything that every person contributes to our Club but I, and your committee, value it all. It doesn’t go unnoticed and the hours you put in are what makes Wanneroo Repertory what it is today.
I look forward to seeing you at “Real Housewives”, the Awards Sundowner and the Annual General Meeting.
See you at the theatre …
Shelley

President’s Spot – February

Hello members & friends

As scheduled, a group of dedicated volunteers have been hard at work in the theatre “busy bee-ing” to improve our wonderful facility! And many of the tasks I listed last month have now been completed! There is still work to be done and we will continue with our usual Tuesday Task Force (9 -12 every week) with that aim in mind. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came along to help. There were lots of laughs along the way and some new members and friendships discovered
I was really disappointed that we had to cancel our scheduled awards night because we only had 46 members booked! The committee speculated on why this might be and couldn’t come up with a definitive answer. Was it the choice of venue, the timing, the food choice – no-one is sure? What-ever it was, having only 46 people was not viable and would not have felt like a celebration for our 2018 theatrical year.
However, the awards have been decided and we want to celebrate the re-cipients, so have decided to trial a different format this year and have a less formal event, a Sundowner in our newly refurbished foyer! You will see details inside the newsletter and details for bookings (so we know how much finger food to order in!) will be advertised in our next newsletter.
We rarely have a social event other than performances and we will be ca-tering at no cost to members, so please support this event and let’s cele-brate the excellent casts and crews of 2018.
Finally I’d like to remind members that our first production for the year, a debut for director Helen Smolders, is well into rehearsal and looking very, very good! On-line bookings are already open for this delightfully funny musical parody/send-up of the TV franchise “Real Housewives”, so book sooner rather than later!
See you at the theatre
