Aladdin
A musical pantomime adapted by Ben Crocker
Directed by Gwen Browning
Based on the original fairy tale from One Thousand and One Nights, the plot centres around the wicked wizard Abanazar who has spent years searching for a magic lamp.
Guided by the Genie of the Ring, he learns that only Aladdin, a poor washerwoman’s son, can enter the enchanted jewel filled cave, so he disguises himself as Aladdin’s long-lost uncle and spirits him away, to find the magic lamp. But all they find is a dirty old lamp that possesses extraordinary magical powers.
The production promises plenty of laughs, toe-tapping numbers, engaging comic roles, a Kung-fu Princess, a lively laundry scene and a mischievous panda. You are encouraged to boo the villain and cheer for our hero in this fun-filled pantomime.

Jack Trot and his mother, Dame Trot live in a village called Merrydale. Jack is in love with King Bertram’s daughter, the lovely Princess Demelza. The village is being terrorised by the Giant who lives Up-In-The Clouds. He demands increased taxes and the hand of the Princess in marriage. In order to pay the Giant, Dame Trot and Jack are forced to sell their cow Daisy. However, Jack is tricked by Slimeball, the Giant’s henchman, who pays him in beans instead of cash; and who abducts the Princess and takes her to the Giant. Jack throws the beans away in disgust, but magically they grow into a huge beanstalk allowing him to climb up into the clouds to rescue the Princess. Will it end happily ever after?
